Sister's Birthday!

Yup!  It is another sister's birthday!  My sister, Andrea, had a birthday on August 23rd!  We got together today to celebrate her day and to have a Stampin Up party too!!   What a fun way to spend the day!  I made Andrea a Double Tri - Fold Shutter card.  Instructions to make the Tri - Foldshutter card are found on Splitcoast Stampers resource page here-

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/trishuttercard/

For my card- you just make 2 tri- fold shutter cards and join them in the middle.  The real work is in decorating the many layers!  Here are a few pictures of the inside of my card for Andrea. This first picture is the view when you first open the card.

Then you open the next layer- I put the sentiment here.  You can click on this picture for a closer view!

The view when the card is open completely!  It really was fun making this card!  Lots of space to put pictures and sentiments and flowers!  You name it and you can use it here.

Here are some shots of our Stampin Up/Birthday party!  This little batty is just one of the projects we worked on at our party!  How cute is that!

I made cupcakes for Andrea's birthday!  I used 2 colors for the frosting.  I had frosting everywhere! I love how the colors came out but I need practice, practice in decorating !!!  Something to work on when I retire!!

Picnic Basket

I purchased a few Stampin Up supplies from Lynn Pratt's site -

quite a while ago.  When you purchase from her you can be eligible for one of her fabulous tutorials or you can buy them outright!  You can find the picnic basket under her tutorials  I have had this one awhile but couldn't find the time to actually make the basket.  We have a summer co-worker leaving this week and I wanted to make a going away gift for her.  This basket is perfect to hold 2 yummy cupcakes!  I began my basket with one brown color and then realized I didn't have enough of that color to finish it! I ended up using another brown but I love how it came out- even with a couple of mistakes!!  It really is a very sweet basket and a good sized one at that!   Here are a few more pics-

Clip It Up Ribbon Organizer!

I had to share pictures of my new Clip It Up ribbon organizer!  I love it!  I got a great deal on E-bay and it is brand new!  Not only does it organize my ribbons but I can use the clips that come with it to hang my Memory Box dies!  It is much easier to see my ribbon and the dies now.  It is 36 inches long - I filled it right up with all my ribbon!  I have the white wire shelving under it for the smaller & too large ribbons that don't fit into it.  Most them fit just fine!!!  The clips can take care of the ribbon that aren't on a spool too! Both sides have a opening that you can put a pair of scissors in for convenience!  Here are a few more pictures-

A Lorax Birthday!

My Grandson, Ezra, will be 5 years old in September! We just bought him the movie, The Lorax.  He laughed out loud several times during the movie and we enjoyed it too!   I think he will like this birthday card!  I have not finished the inside since I want a special sentiment for it and I haven't found it yet.  I photo copied the front of the movie to use as a template for my Lorax.  Then I chose the colors I wanted to use and and cut the frayed edge of the Lorax's mustache by hand.  I did use Tim Holtz's Distress inks to make my the shadows on the mustache.    It was really easy to make the mustache once I had the template. I used the Sizzix alphabet dies for my "Happy Birthday".   Here is a picture of my template and my inspiration-

10 Signs that you are 60 years old!

My husband's birthday is this week.  He will be 60 years old! I usually make him birthday cards with Golf themes since he is so passionate about his golf game.  But this year will be different!  For some reason, he has been talking about getting a GUMBALL machine for our living room!  I really like some of the ones I have seen but I am not sure about getting one for our living room?  Anyway, I thought maybe if I made one for his birthday card...it would get it out of his system.  I totally cased one I saw on Pinterest.  I went back to create a link ...and I can't find it.  I thought I had saved it to my board but it is not there.  I believe it may have been done by a Cricut machine.  I don't have a Cricut but I love the one I saw!  If someone recognizes it, let me know and I will add the link.  It is a shaker card that I made just using some acrylic for the window and mounting with some foam strips.  I did put Crystal Effect on the colored circles I used for gumballs to give them some shine.  This card is for fun and so I used something for the inside sentiment that I thought was a hoot-

Top 10 Signs That You Are

60 Years Old!

                                                  1. When you sleep, people worry you're dead.

                                     2. Your back goes out more than you do.

                                     3. Your best friend is dating someone

half their age. ..and they aren't breaking any laws.

                                     4. You wear black socks with sandals.

                                                 5. When your idea of a night out  is sitting on the patio.

                                                6. It takes longer to rest  than it did to get tired.

                                                7. Your address book has mostly  names that start with Dr.

                                   8. You sit in a rocking chair and can't get it going.

                                   9. Getting "lucky" means  you found your car in the parking lot.

                                  10. You forgot that you already  had your 60th birthday."

I hope my husband gets a kick out of it.  I also had " Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be"!My husband is more of a romantic than I am...but I love that saying.  Now, I am laughing at this sentiment but it a few short months I will join the 60 year old club.  eck. I was fine with being in my 50's  but 60???? Yikes!!  It will really take some getting used to.  I hope I can laugh at these 10 Signs then!
Footnote:  Thank you Carol for finding this link! This is the Gumball machine that I cased!  It is really adorable!

Happy "Bird" day!

Another Sister's birthday, another birthday card- or should I say "Bird" day card!  I used SU 's ornament punch for the body of my Birthday Birds.  Their tails are the scallop punch and their heads are Spellbinder's circle punch.  I use Sizzix balloon die to add a festive touch! Here is a picture of the inside-

We had a little get together today to celebrate Rochelle's birthday!  It is always fun when I get to see my Sister's!  I don't like the getting older part but it can not be avoided,..sigh.... My Grandson, Ezra, is here visiting this weekend.  He thinks Mimi is 29 and Aunt Rochelle is my "older" sister.  I don't know where he got that idea????  Happy Birthday, Rochelle!

A Bling Birthday!

I wanted to try to make this interlocking Gate Card for my sister Adrianne's birthday card. I am late in sending it to her so I wanted it to shine!  I used the Want to Scrap Nestabling gems to give it some Sparkle! I used Heartfelt Creations die for the inside. The die cuts in the corner are from Cheery Lynn Design and both sizes of Spellbinder's dies were used to make the center squares.  I love the way this card opens and closes!!  Check out Becca's instructions on how to make this card on her blog, Amazing Grace. You will have to scroll down to find her video.   Her card is just beautiful!

Stamped Designs Shopping Day!

I went with my family to Dover, NH to visit one of my favorite places for stamping supplies- Stamped Designs!
The store is located on Washington Street -in an old mill on the 2nd floor.  It has the best selection of stamps, paper, dies and glitter and paint- You name it and Jeannette probably has it!  Here is a picture of the mill!

I have several projects that I have been working on.  I can't believe we are in August already!  I love working in my studio but lately the heat has me beat!  My studio is in our finished basement and is usually cooler than the rest of the house- but that is not the case of late! I think this heat is supposed to break on Monday!  I can't wait!  Here are some more pictures of the store.  Also, Jeannette has a web site with info about the store here:
http://www.stampeddesigns.com/

Lot's of Spellbinder's dies
Rows and rows of great stuff!
The entrance to the shop!

I love Memory Box dies!  There were more scattered about the store.

You can't see all the paper Jeannette has!  Tons!

If you get a chance -check out Stamped Designs in Dover, NH.!!!  I can't wait until our next visit!!!
