Quilling

My sisters and I got together this past weekend and tried our hand at quilling.  Pinterest has had so many displays of quilling-I had to try it.  It is really fun!  We are just beginners with just the instructions that we found on the internet.  There are soooo many different techniques for quilling!  I think the more you practice- the better you would get at making the different designs that are available.  I hope to be able to use this form of art for more of my cards!  We really did have a fun day!

On Sunday, my family got together to celebrate the Holiday!  The weather was just beautiful!  I sat on my sister Rochelle's deck and enjoyed the beautiful day!  Here are just a few shots of some of the fabulous food that was prepared for good eatin!

The strawberry tart recipe was found on Pinterest!  They were delicious and easy to make!  Connie's cinnamon crisp recipe in the lower right hand corner was from Pinterest too!
Check out the shrimp below- This was a recipe my sister-in-law Charlotte, who shared it with Rochelle!  It is destined to be a family favorite!  I can't wait to get the recipe!

And lastly, the fabulous Chicken Kabobs!  Mark did a great job of grilling these creations!  They were great!   The weekend was alot of fun!  I am headed back to work today and it is raining this morning.  The weekend is but a memory now- but it was great fun!  Enjoy your week!

Cascading Castle Birthday Card!

I made a Castle Cascading birthday card for a co-worker's niece's birthday.  I really enjoyed making it!  When another co-worker saw it- She wanted one for her Granddaughter!   This time I used white and silver for the colors.  I also put a picture of her Granddaughter in the window at the top!  Here are a few more pictures!

I bought the glittered paper at AC Moore. I find it challenging to work with glittered paper since you can't use just anything to stick to it.  It is also quite strong paper and you have to be very careful when making the score marks and bending it.  The glitter roofs and silver "Happy Birthday" seems to make everything just sparkle.  It is a Castle fit for a Princess don't you think?

Mom's Birthday!

I love browsing Pinterest for all types of things!  More recently, I have seen some lovely cards that are done with Quilling.  So I decided to give it a try!  I really do love the look of a quilled flower.  I have bought dies that you wind up the die cut strip and it turns into a lovely flower.  So quilling seemed to be right up my alley! This card is for my Mom's 83rd birthday! She won't like me telling how old she is but I think it is an honor to reach that age!  This card is another one of those Spring cards.  If you look at my post below you will see where to find the instructions.  I think they are fun to make since they are meant to Pop up when you take them out of the envelope.   My family are getting together today to celebrate Mom's special day!  I am really looking forward to it!

I thought I would add a few pictures of the Succulent Garden that I planted this weekend!  Succulents are another new interest that I discovered while browsing Pinterest.  They are really cool!! There are many different varieties too!!  Take a look-

Graduation Cap!

A co-worker is graduating this weekend! What a special time for her and her family!  I haven't made a Graduation card for a while.  I loved Heidi's graduation card and just had to case it!  It  is located here-

Her instructions were easy to follow!  Here are a few more pictures of my card!

I will get everyone in the office to sign and wish her a fabulous day!

Front Porch

We have had what seems like a ton of rain these last 2 weeks!  Everything is looking green and beautiful!  I took several pictures of our front porch and how I am decorating it for the summer.  The wicker carriage was found on one of our "junkin" trips this Spring.   It was in good enough shape to use it as a planter.  It has Lobelia and double impatiens!!  I love how it turned out!

I used the same flowers in the corner of the porch that you can't see in the top photo.  I think this is called Cascading Planters on Pinterest.  I saw several beautiful creations of this type when I was browsing Pinterest and couldn't resist trying one of my own!

We went to my sister, Andrea's home in Kennebunk for Mother's Day. I made a patchwork Mother's Day card for Mom.  The planter is from Marianne Designs bird cage- just the top -turned upside down! The green leaf die is from Cherry Lynn Designs- another favorite!  We all had a good time watching Mom open her cards and gifts on Mother's Day!

Topsy Turvey Planter

I have my 3D Mother's Day card tutorial all set to publish but I can not figure out how to put my template on my blog so you can click on it and print it!!!  I have spent a week trying to figure it out and I just don't get it!!!  I think I have to give it up!!! I scanned the templates that are needed to my documents as a JPEG but when I put it on my blog - you can't click on it... So frustrating!!

In the meantime, to blow off some "steam" - I have planted a Topsy Turvey planter that I saw in several places on PINTEREST!  I loved it!  I haven't finished adding all the plants.  It is so much fun setting this up!  It is somewhat shaded in this corner of our patio- so I am looking for more shade plants!  I hope everyone has a FABULOUS Mother's Day!!
