Wild Women Tutorial

I did this tutorial to show how to make the Women of my Wild Women Do Card-which you can see if you scroll down this blog. I still ran out of time on the first taping and decided to do a Part 2 instead of retaping since there was no hope of doing it in 10 minutes. Please forgive the drop off at the end of the first taping-again. I hope to get better at this as I go along. I noticed my hands look awful in this taping! Not only do I have age spots but Tim Holtz's inks are all over my hands and finger nails and my hands are sticky from all the gluing!! I was working on another project before I decided to tape this tutorial. I lived in the basement today since it was so HOT!!! They are forecasting another hot day tomorrow. Oh, joy!

Here is Part2- I think I stuttered a little at the end.??? Don't laugh!! Tu..tutorial??? Does practice really make perfect?

Remodeled Chest of Drawers

This has been my project for the last couple of days!

I have wanted to change the decor in our guest room to more of a beach theme.   But the bureau in that room was this big dark piece of furniture -not beachy at all.  I painted the bottom half a gray, white.
I sanded down the drawers and then stained with MinWax a pecan color. That was time consuming but fun!

The top was a challenge too.  I decided to decoupage the top with a map.  My sister, Connie had given me several old maps that I loved.  The colors were perfect for the top! Connie helped me add the map to the top!  Wow, that was a job trying to get out all the air bubbles!  It was a 2 person job for sure!

I love the result!  I am still putting the layers of poly on it but it is looking good!  This will add a little nautical feel to the room!  I sanded the edges to give it a little bit of a used look.    I also changed out the knobs for the top of the bureau-but still looking for new draw pulls for the bottom half!  With that done- I am headed back into my Studio for some more fun!

Wild Women Do Sports car tutorial

My first video tutorial!  I have a new appreciation for those who make video tutorials and make it look so easy!  I had to retape mine 3 times.  I am sorry for the abrupt ending- I am not sure what happened.  But I made it through the most important parts.  The following are the sizes of the Spellbinder dies that I used to make this car-
Labels One- the largest
Circles- 3", 1 3/8, 1 1/8 and 7/8
Rectangles-  3" and 2 5/8
Stampin Up 1 inch square punch

Ezra's Vacation!

We have had the company of our grandson, Ezra since Friday!  What a joy it is to be able to spend some time with him.  Every day has been an adventure!  He lives with his parents on the island of North Haven- about a 1 hour ferry ride from Rockland. Here is Ezra and his Mom.  He is almost 4 years old and very much in love with Lightening McQueen from the movie CARS!  That little car goes everywhere with him!  Here are some of the sights on our trip to the island-

My ride to the island coming to pick me up!

Views of the harbor as we approach

He went home yesterday and I miss him muchly!!  The house is quiet without his smiling face.  I can't wait to see them again soon- I hope!  Here are more pictures of the day I spent with them on the island.  I guess now I will have more time to spend in my studio since I am still on vacation!

They have chicks now!

Wild Women Do!!

I made this card for someone who is turning 50.  I am not really sure how she feels about turning 50.  Now, 50 is just a memory for me but I wanted to make a somewhat funny card that shows that life really begins at 50!  I was inspired by the the Art Impressions stamp that my sister purchased recently. Here is a look at her card. http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1976630?&si=cbmott
I borrowed it from her to use and then decided to try and recreate it in punch art.  You can find that stamp and many other hilarous stamps on their web site-
I had made the automobile sometime ago and was just looking for a use for it! I used SU eyelet punch for the sunglasses.  At least that is what I think they call it??  The lens part of their sunglasses gets punch out- I just glued them back in and added a little glitter to the lens.  They look like they have stars in their eyes! The mouth I drew in and added white gel for their teeth.  Here are closer shots.

For the inside sentiment - I haven't decided which one to use.  Again- I love the humorous one!  Hehehe..snort snort... but I have the fall back of the more sentimental one! That one is from SU's All Holidays stamp set.  CORRECTION:  I made a boo boo as to where I found the humorous sentiment below- it was also from Art Impressions found here-

So sorry for my error!

Sail Away Birthday!

I was inspired by a sailboat I saw in the Pier 1 flyer this week.  I love anything nautical and had to give it a try! I hand cut everything but the seagull.  That is a Sizzix die.  I used Tim Holtz's compass mask on the sail and his Distress inks are used for the whole boat.  The sentiment is from SU although the name escapes me.
The inside sentiment is also Tim Holtz-I just typed it out instead of stamping it.  How true is his message!  I hope everyone has a fabulous 4th of July!
